Puppy School ABTC Membership

Puppy School is proud to be recognised by the Animal Behaviour Training Council (ABTC) and is a Practitioner organisation. We are registered to train, assess and approve Animal Training Instructors (ATIs) and are required to set and maintain standards for the organisation.

Puppy School tutors who have been running classes for over 12 months, and pass the strict assessment criteria set by the ABTC, are invited to join the ABTC register of Animal Training Instructors. The ABTC is the regulatory body that represents animal trainers and animal behaviour therapists to both the public and to legislative bodies. It is the only animal welfare charity that is primarily concerned with protecting the psychological welfare of animals undergoing training and behaviour activities.

It sets and maintains the standards of knowledge and practical skills needed to be an animal trainer, training instructor or animal behaviour therapist, and it maintains the national registers of appropriately qualified animal trainers and animal behaviourists.

The ABTC promotes the welfare of animals in their interactions with humans, lobbying for humane methods in training and behaviour modification, and for the education of the animal owning public.
